IMPROVED
SUSPENSION FOR BA FALCON
Fulcrum Suspensions has reported strong demand for suspension enhancement and lowering kits for new Ford BA Falcons and Fairmonts. The suspension specialist began work with the new BA models soon after their launch last September. Fulcrum's Graham Scudamore-Smith said it was clear from the outset that the standard Ford product delivered impressive standards of ride quality, steering feel and handling. "This was not a car with any immediately apparent need for basic suspension improvement for normal usage," he said. Fulcrum first updated its existing AU Falcon replacement camber and castor adjustment kits to suit the improved BA Falcon front and rear suspensions. "Soon after the new Falcon was launched customers began requesting body lowering kits primarily to enhance their cars' appearance," Graham said. A range of Fulcrum Formula front coil spring and shock absorber options were developed to suit individual customers' requirements. He said the key to such developments is to maintain or improve reliability, safety, ride control, steering responsiveness and handling. It is easy simply to lower the car but without extensive testing there can be negative flow-on changes in these critical areas." Fulcrum's next program was to develop a range of Country Packs for the BA Falcon wagon and ute. These have proved popular with private and company owners requiring more ground clearance or for improved ride characteristics and longer life on wagons or utes which are regularly loaded to the maximum. Falcon Country Packs in most instances involve replacing the front coil springs and rear leaf springs while the standard shock absorbers can be retained. There is also a Country Pack for the sedans, which have independent rear suspension. Fulcrum offers a full warranty on all suspension changes matching the vehicle manufacturers' warranty.
