CONVERSIONS
Some manufacturers of automotive lighting, such as Cibie, Hella, IPF,
etc, manufacture a replacement headlamp with a replaceable halogen globe,
which can be increased in wattage, for certain vehicles.
 These
headlamp conversions upgrade the vehicle's standard lighting system and
are of great benefit for any kind of night driving. If high-powered auxiliary
driving lights are fitted, headlamp conversions should also be fitted
to eliminate or minimise the performance difference between high and low
beams.
Headlamp conversions are mainly available for vehicles up to current
models, but certainly only for a minimum number of makes and models. Always
consult an auto electrician about the use of higher wattage globes to
ensure electrical and lighting failures do not occur.
It is also recommended that a protective transparent covering, such as
Liteskins, be fitted to eliminate damage from stones. These are far more
effective than perspex covers and are extremely cost effective.
